Carlson & Carlson Attorneys-at-Law Scholarship

2016 Recipient- Meg Rose

meg roseBorn in Vail and raised in Summit County, Meg Rose is a true "Mountain Girl". Throughout her life, Meg has constantly tried to stay involved in her community. From endless hours with the 4-H clubs, both as a student and then as a mentor, to helping organize volunteers for the Summit Foundation's annual Great Rubber Duck Race, and even volunteering at the Silverthorne Elementary School's kindergarten classes, Meg definitely wanted to give back to her community that has given so much to her over the years. She played a handful of sports in her early years starting with Optimist soccer and basketball, then trying volleyball (which did not last very long). After a couple of years of begging and pleading her parents, they finally let her on the ice to participate in Summit Youth Hockey, she was a member of that team for eleven years. She was honored with the Assistants Captain's pin multiple years, and her senior year she was voted to wear the Captain's pin with pride. In eighth grade, Meg showed some curiosity for the Summit High School's Girls Rugby team. As Meg started practicing she instantly fell in love with the game of rugby, she had found her sport. Meg was also a multiple year varsity letter winner in soccer and track. Outside of sports Meg also was involved with her high school's Health Leaders Program (President), Interact Club (Committee Chairperson), National Honor Society, and National Spanish Honor Society all while maintaining a 4.1 GPA. It was through the Med Prep courses at Summit High School that Meg found her future career calling, nursing. In May 2016, she took and passed her CNA test (Certified Nursing Assistant). She will be attending Quinnipiac University in Connecticut the fall of 2016 pursuing her dreams to become a nurse while playing on their Division 1 rugby team.
